Position Objectives and Purpose: The Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau has an immediate opening for a President and CEO. Serving as the principal voice of the Brighton area business community, the Chamber’s mission is to provide, maintain, and enhance a favorable business and social environment. The Chamber serves a rapidly growing community with a local population of over 40,000 and another 20,000+ in surrounding areas.Essential Duties: Responsible for creating and sustaining a dynamic and forward-thinking public image, while promoting growth of the Chamber through new member recruiting, community relations, communications and marketing.
Builds and maintains working relationships with members, Chamber Board of Directors, City and County officials, the Brighton Economic Development Corporation, and other strategic partners.
Manages, recruits and oversees staff members and volunteers consistent with program needs and financial resources. Has the ability to motivate and develop an effective and productive work environment.
Maintains a focus on long-term and overall strategic planning and implementation, including all facets of the budgeting process.
Represents the Chamber on a variety of public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels which require the development of platforms, messaging, advocacy channels, and strategic relationships.
Provide visionary leadership for the Chamber and its members and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of activities needed to ensure the Chamber’s success.
Experience and Skills Required: Strong working knowledge of the chamber of commerce industry to include principles of volunteer management, program administration and strategic planning.
Demonstrated track record of developing effective relationships.
Planning, developing and executing operational and strategic plans.
Executive leadership experience – strong staff leadership, fiscal management, governance, board development, human resource development and experience leading a complex corporate, community or economic development organization.
Experience working with diverse groups and varied industries to promote diversity programmatically.
Strong communication skills both in writing and orally with members, potential members, elected officials, outside organizations, and media outlets.
Experience with community, economic and business development.
Possesses and demonstrate high standards of integrity, work ethic, trustworthiness and personal responsibility.
Computer/Software Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook is required.
Working knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
Familiarity with graphic design software and an eye for creativity.
Experience with Constant Contact or other email marketing/communication software is preferred.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in non-profit, communications, marketing or business is preferred but related experience will be considered in lieu of academic credentials.
Previous chamber of commerce executive experience or experience in a senior management position with a mid- or large-sized organization, but a combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Job Type: Full-time with a flexible work environment and schedule
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 with performance-based bonus opportunity
